About the TCS
The Tunisian Chemical Society is a non-profit learned society founded in 1978 by a group of academic and industrial chemists. It has currently more than 600 members. The association aims to promote chemistry in its scientific, educational and applied aspects. Thanks to the motivation of the members of its National Bureau, reinforced with five regional branches in Bizerta, Monastir, Sfax, Gabès and Gafsa, the Tunisian Chemical Society plays a major role in the development and revitalization of chemistry sciences.

In order to develop a culture of chemistry within educational institutions, and to preserve the interests of chemists, and then to introduce the role of chemistry in our modern society, the Tunisian Chemical Society has worked to publish the latest scientific research by organizing international conferences, regional forums, and specialized scientific seminars that give the opportunity to young researcher students to meet and be with academics and industrialists in order to build bridges between them.
The Tunisian Chemical Society has also published, without interruption, since 1979 a scientific journal entitled "Journal of the Tunisian Chemical Society" (two issues per year) that publishes the latest chemical research that has been reached, whether in the laboratories of university or industrial institutions. More than 83 issues have been published until December 2017.
Since 2018, an agreement was signed between the Tunisian Chemical Society and the International Publisher 'Springer Nature' who has taken over the edition of its journal renamed 'Chemistry of Africa - A Journal of the Tunisian Chemical Society'.
Since its establishment, the Tunisian Chemical Society has worked to position itself on the international scene, through its presence in some international institutions, or through its active participation in the establishment of structures that take care of the chemistry sector in general. The Tunisian Chemical Society is one of the scientific societies that has initiated the establishment of relations with its counterparts from international scientific societies. It should be noted that the Tunisian Chemical Society is a founding member of the 'Union of Arab Chemists', and it presided over the union in the period 2014-2015. The TCS is also a 'National Adhering Organization - NAO' of the 'International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry'. The Tunisian Chemical Society is also an observer member of the Division 'Analytical Chemistry' of the European Chemical Society, and a founding member of the 'Federation of African Societies of Chemistry'.
